Comer girls go for gold once again

Castlecomer under 16 basketball girls’ team are on their way to Dublin this weekend in an effort to secure yet another all Ireland victory.

The Castlecomer girls are very excited to be playing another All Ireland match this weekend following their recent victory at the school’s C All-Ireland finals which they scooped in January of this year.

The girls are fit and confident and are very excited about the upcoming game which takes place this Saturday April 17. The match will take place in the Oblate Hall in Dublin where the Castlecomer girls are taking on Cork in their first match.

The Castlecomer team will play a series of matches and will play a variety of different teams on qualification to the next round.

There are 12 teams travelling to Dublin to play basketball this weekend in what is going to be a hotly contested competition.

The girls are very excited to play and are training hard all week with coach Joe Byrne who is helping and encouraging them along the way along with the captain Anita MacMahon.

“The girls are doing very well this year as they have won the under 16 C All Ireland final schools already this year,” Mr Byrne said. “They are in flying form and we are very hopeful of a good result this weekend in Dublin.”
