Demonstration on smart phone applications

Current iPhone users will attest to the importance of the applications that adorn their screens, each person highlighting a different one no doubt.

And the Carphone Warehouse will hold a demonstration in Kilkenny Café next Tuesday, April 20, covering a broad range of applications that are available to smart phone users.

The demonstration will cover the useful applications, whether free or paid for, that can help us in our everyday lives, aiming to make life a little easier for experts and novices alike.

For example, the Exchange server, a free application for gmail accounts and Google applications facilitating email on the iPhone so that mails arrive as quickly as text messages.

The Calendar Sync, another free application, consolidates meetings and appointments on your iPhone and laptop and allows you access to your calendar from any internet connected computer.

The Dropbox is a folder located on your phone or computer which allows you to move or edit a file in any folder and immediately updates it across all computers.

Google Apps have attracted a number of large organisations with their free exchange services for up to 50 users and Documents to Go allows you to view, edit and save Excel, Word, Powerpoint and PDF on your phone with the greatest of ease.

To find out more about how these and other applications can prove useful in your day to day lives, head to the Kilkenny Café at 9.45am next Tuesday. There will be free tea and coffee available.
