Clinic actress celebrates hen in Kilkenny

Irish actress Amy Huberman was in Kilkenny last weekend where she not only celebrated her 31st birthday but she also enjoyed her hen night with some friends in the Marble City.

Huberman is engaged to rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll and the couple are due to marry this summer.

The group were staying in Lyrath Estate for the celebratory weekend. Starting off in Zuni’s restaurant on Patrick Street in the city on Saturday night, Huberman and 15 of her friends enjoyed a meal and champagne before heading to the Left Bank and on to Morrissey’s.

Speaking to the Kilkenny Advertiser following the event restaurant owner, Paul Byrne, said that they had been unaware at first it was Amy Huberman who was celebrating her hen night as the table had been booked under someone else’s name.

“We just thought it was a normal party and we set up for it as such. However, the night before, we got a phone call from Brian O’ Driscoll who said that his fiancee was having her hen here on Saturday night and he wanted to pay for champagne in advance. It was only then we realised! We then organised that their table be a little more private and ensured that we wouldn’t need the table again that night so that they would not feel rushed. It looked like they enjoyed themselves anyway. There was a big ‘man doll’ and other paraphernalia going around! It was a normal hen really,” he said.

The group of girls included some of Amy’s actress buddies from her TV show The Clinic where she played the popular character of Daisy, which ran on RTE for seven series until last year.

Huberman who grew up in Cabinteely, south Dublin, went to school at Loreto College, Foxrock. Her father Harold was born in London to a Polish Jewish family and he married her mother Sandra, from Wexford, in the seventies.

She is best known for her role on RTÉ's drama series The Clinic which begun airing its seventh season in September 2009. She also starred in the BBC television series George Gently and the TV movie Showbands.

But Huberman has also recently taken a step into the world of fiction and her first novel Hello Heartbreak was published in July 2009.
