Kilkenny was represented at the Scottish Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Kelvin Hall Glasgow last weekend. Gowran’s Diarmuid Hickey, competing in the under 20 shot had a throw of 10.72 metres.
Sophie Parkinson, also from the Gowran club won silver in the under 17 shot with a throw of 8.81 metres. Silver was also won by Mary Kate Lanigan when she cleared 1.70 metres in the under 20 high jump. The Ireland Schools under 16 team took first place in the Schools Indoor International in Cardiff on Sunday. Cliodhna Manning, KCH and Loreto, played her part finishing in first place in her 200m in 26.16 seconds and was also a member of the winning 4X200m relay team.

This weekend will see the Leinster under 12-19 Indoor Championships in Nenagh with a 10.30am start on Saturday and Sunday.
