At a special function in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny on Monday last Glanbia plc announced a new three year sponsorship deal for Kilkenny hurlers for 2010 – 2012. As in the past, the sponsorship will include Kilkenny’s senior, intermediate, Under 21, and minor hurling teams with the Kilkenny jersey carrying the Avonmore milk logo - Ireland’s Number 1 milk brand.
The sponsorship continues to be performance-bonus related.
Commenting on the new sponsorship deal, Brian Phelan, Glanbia Group HR and operations development director said, “We at Glanbia are delighted once again to announce a continuation of our sponsorship with the Kilkenny hurlers. There has always been a strong link between the GAA and Glanbia through employees, suppliers and customers and I would like to take this opportunity to wish the team and management every success in the League and Championship for 2010.”
Speaking on behalf of the Kilkenny County Board, chairman Paul Kinsella said, “with the costs now involved in running county teams, it would be impossible for Kilkenny to prepare teams without the continued support and generous sponsorship of Glanbia. I thank them for their very generous support in the past and I am delighted to have them on board again as sponsors and look forward to our continued association with them over the next three years.”
At the launch, Colin Gordon, CEO - Glanbia consumer products said, “Glanbia is delighted to be involved again under our Avonmore milk brand as Kilkenny team sponsors. We have had a truly fantastic and successful relationship with Kilkenny for over a decade during which they have won seven All Ireland Senior titles, five National League titles and numerous minor, U21 and Intermediate All Ireland titles. It’s a fantastic fit for Ireland’s No1 Milk brand - Avonmore to be involved with Ireland’s No 1 hurling team - Kilkenny and hopefully the Super Cats can make it an historic 5 in a row.”
Speaking on behalf of the players and management, Kilkenny manager, Brian Cody said, “The players and management very much appreciate the generous sponsorship and support we get from Glanbia and I also want to thank them for providing our players with a range of products over the season which play an important part in our hurlers diet. We will do all in our power to reward them.”
