The Kilkenny Farmers Market is now located in the Market Yard, just at the corner of Kytelers Inn and Bollards pub.
“The traders are very happy with the new location,” says chairperson Mary Merrit from Indulge Bakery.
“We were very restricted with parking opportunities on the Parade. Now our customers will have no shortage of parking."
“Our following has been growing steadily over the past few years,” says organic vegetable grower Eamon Wallace.
“People are more and more interested in knowing more about the food they eat and where it comes from.
“People like to support local producers and our market is made up mainly of people from Kilkenny and the surrounding counties producing their own food.”
The shops around the area are all pleased with the move which took place on February 14 last.
“It should bring a great spark of life and colour to the Market Yard, and hopefully make people more aware of what is available in the Market Yard," says Will from Blueberry.
So every Thursday now you will have the opportunity to buy locally produced meat, vegetables, cheeses, breads, cakes, jams and fresh fish.
The area has lots of outdoor seating opportunities to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and so it should bring a real continental feel to the Market Yard.
