One of my favourite spots to walk or gently jog my two dogs is in Kilfane Woods just outside of Thomastown. So last week I was greatly saddened and disappointed to have found this beautiful place sullied by shopping bags and plastic boxes full of bottles and cans just dumped by the side of the path.
Who are these people that consciously choose to dump their rubbish in our God-given places of beauty? How would they feel if someone dumped rubbish on their front door step or in their back garden and they had to look at it every day?
We are so fortunate here in the south east to be surrounded by nature at its very best. The beauty of the rivers, streams, hills, mountains, coastline, trees and wildlife is there for everyone to enjoy – not be used and abused as a rubbish dump!
What made this particular piece of dumping even worse was that all the bottles and cans were fully recyclable, and the nearest recycling facilities were close by in the SuperValu in Thomastown! Recycling banks are provided for us all in numerous locations, so use them.
As you may have realised by now, this is a form of behaviour that really makes my blood boil. Don’t these polluters realise that by dumping rubbish in these areas, they are simply asking the universe to dump more and more rubbish back into their own lives? I can only assume they have to learn the hard way.
I simply cannot stand looking at the rubbish in Kilfane Woods. This weekend my children and I will pick it up and take it to the recycling facilities. They and I both understand that what goes around comes around. So my advice to those rubbishing wretches is to stop littering immediately, tidy up what you have dumped, and dispose of your rubbish properly – because by doing so you will be building yourself a positive balance in your Karmic bank account and will benefit from the rewards in the end.
