Kilkenny is to receive a funding boost for the development of walking and cycling trails.
Minister for Trade and Commerce John McGuinness said Kilkenny would receive up to €111,623 towards the construction of six walking trails, cycling and 'leisure trails'.
“The funding will help to pay for groundworks, signage, stiles, bridges, gates, fencing and related costs,” he said.
“The trails will be aimed at existing or potential visitors to rural Kilkenny and seeks to optimise the experience of visitors to the area.
“The funding for the trails comes from the Tourism Infrastructure Fund which supports local authorities and other key infrastructure providers to develop facilities for tourists.
“Investing in Kilkenny tourism facilities creates a positive knock-on effect on the local economy. The investment helps to create and secure jobs and small businesses locally," Minister McGuinness concluded.
