Kilkenny Cathedral receives worship grant

A grant of €75,000 has been allocated to St Canice’s Cathedral to re-point the east gable wall of the cathedral and to repair the north aisle slate roof. The Public Worship Grants are provided under Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government funding and administered by The Heritage Council. A total of €1,900,00 has been distributed for major conservation works on places of public worship across the country in 2008. Other County Kilkenny churches to benefit from the funding include St Lachtain’s Church, Freshford, and the Church of the Assumption, Callan.
