A cooperative project between Failte Ireland South East and Waterford Airport has seen the arrivals hall at Waterford Airport turned into a visual display of the delights from across Kilkenny and the southeast region.
The newly placed artwork adorning all of the walls of Waterford Airport’s arrival’s hall focuses passengers on the many activities and destinations across Waterford, Wexford, Tipperary, Kilkenny, and Carlow.
Commenting on the unveiling of the artwork this week, Sinead McAuliffe, regional tourism development officer, Failte Ireland South East said: “We are delighted to work with Waterford Airport on branding the arrivals hall with a southeast theme. It is hoped that the fantastic visual of activities and destinations will portray to visitors that there is a huge variety of things to do throughout the southeast.”
CEO at Waterford Airport Graham Doyle said: “We always enjoy working with Gary Breen, Sinead, and the team in Failte Ireland Southeast to promote tourism into the southeast. Overseas visitor trips to the southeast have been on a steady upward trend in recent years growing by approximately 12 per cent between 2004 and 2008. The share of GB-based visitors travelling by air over the same period has also increased from 42 per cent in 2004 to 55 per cent in 2008, and we’re keen to begin marketing the region to all visitors as soon as they land in Waterford.”
