Creative senior students wanted for poster design

Education and Training

Students from County Kilkenny are being invited to design a poster for National Heritage Week. The winning poster will be developed by a professional design agency and feature in a national advertising campaign which will include TV, print, and online.

The competition is a great opportunity for fourth, fifth and sixth year students who are creative to re-design the look and image for National Heritage Week.

Isabell Smyth, head of communications at the Heritage Council said, “the poster should illustrate the values of the week, the breadth of heritage across Ireland (e.g. marine environment, wildlife, museums, music and folklore ) or a specific aspect of heritage that students feel best illustrates Heritage Week.”

National Heritage Week, which takes place from August 21- 29 , promotes Ireland’s rich and diverse natural, cultural and built heritage through a week-long programme of events nationwide. Throughout the week some 1000 events take place ranging from medieval fairs, storytelling, traditional music sessions, and night-time bat walks. Further information is available on www.heritageweek.ie  Submissions can be made by individual students or a class group from fourth, fifth and sixth year. Up to two entries may be submitted per individual or class. The winner will receive a €300 gift voucher for an individual entry or €500 voucher for a class entry.

Entries, which should not be smaller than A4 or bigger than A2, should be posted with accompanying taglines to the Heritage Council, Kilkenny, by the closing date of February 26 next.
