U14 Evergreen v Freebooters

Freebooters were beaten 4-2 by Evergreen in this tough contest. Two defensive errors saw ‘Booters trailing 2-0 at half time with Evergreen increasing their lead to three just after the break. Eamon O'Reilly got one back for the blues only for Evergreen to add a fourth almost immediately with a fine goal from Frank Nolan. David Kenny got a second for ‘Booters, who were in control for the rest of the game but were unable to convert the possession into goals.

U16 Freebooters v Evergreen

There was a large crowd in attendance to witness a very competitive game on Friday evening in the Watershed. Clear cut chances were few and far between in this game with both teams determined to get a result. Freebooters took a 1-0 lead at the break with a goal from Conor Keane. The second half was 50-50 with both sides competing in all areas of the pitch. However, the turning point came when Keith Ruth was sent off for a second bookable offence. This gave the initiative to Evergreen who continued to press home their numerical advantage. The Blues thought they had done enough to get a long awaited victory over this Evergreen side, however the pressure finally paid off when the ball fell to Joe Keohane who grabbed an injury time equaliser for Evergreen. The result however keeps the league title alive for both clubs and should make for an interesting season.
