Members of Kilkenny Borough Council expressed their sympathy to the Aylward family following the death of Mrs Kitty Aylward, the mother of local politician Bobby Aylward TD and Liam Aylward MEP and the widow of the late Fianna Fáil Senator Bob Aylward.
Cllr Paul Cuddihy (FG ) said Mrs Aylward was a very well known and well-liked woman who was very proud of the achievements of her family.
Mrs Kitty Aylward of Knockmoylan, Mullinavat died at the age of 85, unexpectedly at her home on Friday last.
