Robbie Buckley struck late in this game to break Freebooters’ hearts. After leading for most of the game through a fantastic free kick by Evan Swan they were left stunned by losing the points in this important clash.
The game was competitive, fast and skilful. The two sides were very evenly matched and the control switched from end to end with many chances missed by both sides. Ormonde Villa actually had the better of the first half but at times they held onto the ball too long. Ormonde Villa were disappointed when a free from about 25 yards beat Ross Butler in the 'Villa goal midway through the first period. The second half was more of the same, challenges were hard but the pace never dropped and for Ormonde Villa the reward came when Shane Maher struck a great shot to level the game and moments later came that winner from Robbie Buckley. Freebooters tried as hard as they could to get a leveller in the remaining minutes but found Gary Bryan and Robbie Driscoll too strong at the centre of defence and the game belonged to Villa.
