Lady Captain Marie Gannon celebrated her end of year with a gala dinner in the Clubhouse Hotel on Saturday night last. The night was a great success and the entertainment was fantastic for all who attended. There was a charity raffle held on the night which raise €355 which will be donated to the Vita Ethiopia and Flood Relief Ireland.
Two presentations were also made on the night. The winner of the club singles, sponsored by Ormonde Hotel, was Joan Brennan, and second place went to Emer Foley. The Golfer of the year prize, sponsored by Hahessy Furniture, went to Patricia Doheny.
The joint club AGM of Castlecomer will take place in the clubhouse on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 8pm. Nomination papers are currently available at the club office.
Results from the senior event are as follows: 1 Diarmuid Furlong (16 ), Eamonn McEvoy (20 ), Phil Shore (24 ), Jean Ryan (27 ) 74; 2 Pat Morrissey (16 ), John Ryan (17 ), Liam Farrell (19 ) 73; 3 Harry Whelan (11 ), Martin Brennan (14 ), Betty Owens (18 ), Ray O’Donnell (18 ) 33.
The senior captain’s dinner was held recently and was a great success.
Eamonn McEvoy received the cup for Golfer of the Year while Jean Ryan received the cup for Lady Golfer of the Year.
Results from the turkey competition are as follows: 1 Micheal Coogan (8 ) 35 points; 2 David Breen (18 ) 33 points b9; 3 Christy Comerford 33 points.
