Kilkenny is set to be one of the highlights of the Túcan December Submerged Tour. The band are bringing their amazing live show back to Kytelers Inn for a special Christmas show this Friday (tonight ), December 18.
Túcan, who scored a top 30 debut album with ‘Aliquot Strings’ this summer, are set to confirm their status as one of the most exciting live acts in Ireland with a new expanded line-up. Joining the original guitar duo of Donal Gunne and Pearse Feeney are Keith Kelly on bass and Paul Werhly on drums.
“We’ve been playing with Paul and Keith at a number of festivals over the summer such as the Electric Picnic. Having them join us on a full-time basis enables us to flesh out our sound even further and take the band in new directions as we start work on our second album in the new year,” said Donal.
Sligo native, Paul Werhly has been gigging extensively over the last few years including a stint in the States drumming. Keith Kelly is also a veteran session musician, and has been playing from a very young age.
Túcan will also join the likes of the 202s, David Kitt and Jinx Lennon as part of the ‘We Love Yule’ fundraiser, in the aid of the Simon Community, in Filmbase to kick off their December Submerged Tour.
Having supported the likes of Regina Spektor, Jose Feliciano, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Alabama 3, Túcan released ‘Aliquot Strings’ this summer to widespread acclaim. Produced by Lance Hogan from Kila and featuring Cuban percussionist Tony Oscar, their debut was hailed as a ‘stunning debut’ with their virtuosity on full display. Not content with being pigeon-holed, Túcan fuse elements of trad, rock, flamenco, metal and roots into their unique and captivating sounds. Check out their fantastic sound for yourself tonight in Kytelers. Doors open at 9pm, tickets cost €10 and are available on the door.
