Deputy Phil Hogan has described the five per cent cut in public sector employees with salaries under €30,000 as a brutal blow.
The Fine Gael Environment Spokesman also revealed that his party will table an amendment to the Finance Bill this week seeking to have this decision reversed. “It is grossly unfair and unjust that people on salaries of under €30,000 should be subject to another five per cent cut”, he said. “We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to have this injustice rectified. In our Budget proposals, Fine Gael exempted the first €30,000 from any cuts”.
