Kilkenny motorcyclist killed in Dublin accident

A Kilkenny man was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident this week.

John Bailey (57 ) ) formerly of Assumption Place in Kilkenny city was killed as he drove his motorbike from his home in Balbriggan to Dublin Airport.

His bike was involved in a collision with a car shortly before 8am on Wednesday on the Balrothery Road.

Mr Bailey was rushed to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

He had been living in Dublin with his Kilkenny-born wife, Colette Frawley, for many years.

Mr Bailey was a regular visitor to his Kilkenny family.

He had been due to travel to Spain where he was planning to visit a friend for a few days’ holidays.

Gardaí at Balbriggan are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact Balbriggan Garda station on 01-8020510.
