The finalists for the Hype Entertainment Battle of the Bands were announced on Sunday.
Out of 11 bands that battled for a slot at the final over the past five weeks, four hopefuls got through – Teratoria, South, Kerbstomp and Decadation.
The judging panel that consisted of Andrew McGuinness (event organiser ), Ken McGuire (KilkennyMusic.com ) and Ross Costigan (rosscostiganphotography.com ), took almost two weeks to short list their final four.
The finalists were announced just after 5pm on Sunday before Atrax Mantis took to the stage.
Throughout the three heats of the competition, all bands were judged in five categories including originality, stage presence, crowd reaction, musical ability and overall performance.
The four going through to next weekend's final for a shot at almost €3,000 worth of prizes sponsored by local businesses were the four highest scoring bands out of the eleven that performed in the competition.
However, it's not over yet. The four bands will compete next Sunday, September 21st, with the judges taking time out during a special performance from Mike Got Spiked to pick a winner and runner up.
The winning band will receive an EP recording package from The Mill Studios as well as a professional website, photography and PR package in a combined sponsorship between KilkennyMusic.com and Ross Costigan Photography.
Runners up will receive a demo recording package from Broderick's Music Warehouse here in Kilkenny.
Don't miss the Battle of the Bands final this Sunday at 4pm in The Zoo Club, 40 Parliament Street.
