The Autism Team from the Health Service Executive’s Carlow/Kilkenny Community Services area has launched an information brochure.
Representatives from the HSE, relevant medical professionals, and those involved in education, parent groups and Autism Associations both local and national gathered at the Kilkenny Education Centre, SOS Kilkenny complex, Callan Rd, Kilkenny on Thursday morning September 11 last, to formally launch the brochure.
The brochure includes a pamphlet on autism and local services which will be available for general distribution. In addition, there is a more detailed information pack available to parents whose child receives a diagnosis of Autism.
The HSE’s Local Health Manager for Carlow/Kilkenny, Ms Anna Marie Lanigan officially launched the information pack. She also introduced the audience to Autism Team members Lindsay Anne Staunton (Senior Speech and Language Therapist ) and Orna Mac Giolla Ri (Senior Occupational Therapist ), who made presentations on the brochure and spoke about the service structure of the Autism Team.
Concluding the event, Ms. Lanigan said “The HSE, through its dedicated staff and in liaison with other services within the organisation, and with referring GPs in the Carlow/Kilkenny area, works within its resources, to provide a high quality service. We are pleased that this information pack is now to hand to aid the work of our Autism Team in the community. We are committed to further developing these much needed services and value the feedback we have received in response to the publication launched today and to the event in general.”
Copies of the leaflets are available at the HSE’s Community Services offices (James’ Green, Kilkenny and Athy Rd., Carlow ) and the information pack can also be sourced through contact with the liaison nurse.
