Construction for Top Street confirmed at Ossory Park

The department for Environment, Heritage and Local Government has issued an approval for the redevelopment of the Top Street in Ossory Park.

It emerged at this month’s Borough Council meeting that the revised budget cost has been confirmed and that contract winners, Glenman Corporation, are set to commence work immediately. The site was handed over to the company by the local authority this week.

“Demolition works are to begin within the month,” said senior engineer Kevin Fitzgerald, “and it is hoped that as much local labour as possible will be used.”

Cllr John Coonan commended the work that has been done to date on the Bottom Street, “This is definitely a job well done, the construction lifts the whole environment”.

The work is expected to take 16 working months to complete. The project is set to be completed by spring 2011.
