The KATS come back out to play

Kilkenny theatre group KATS is coming together once again in the New Year for a series of three-act plays.

Founded in 1986 in Kilkenny, the group had in recent years taken a break from the stage but is now reformed and is seeking new members.

The theatre group is about to go into production with three different one act plays from directors Declan Taylor, Alan Grant and John Whitely.

To go ahead with these new productions KATS will host an open evening for new and existing members in Cleeres’ on Tuesday, December 1, at 8pm. The night will feature talks from the three directors on their plays and they will hand out scripts to budding actors. There are plenty of roles to be filled so even if you’re not an experienced actor go along on the night as you’ll be very welcome.

The following week on Tuesday, December 8, at 8pm in Cleeres’, people will be brought back to read for their chosen roles. Rehearsals for the plays will start the end of January 2010 and the plays will go on stage for the end of March 2010 at Cleeres’ Theatre.

KATS is a very exciting group to become involved with as, not only do they offer the chance to perform on stage, direct plays, and write scripts, but there is also the opportunity to meet new friends.

KATS is always looking for new members but the group is for over 18s only. For further information on KATS and the upcoming open evening contact Alan on 086 8271862.
