Go nuts at this year’s conker fest

With great music and events featuring at this weekend’s Irish Conker Championships in Freshford, it is sure to be a fun weekend for all involved.

The Square in Freshford is to be transformed into a venue of family fun with flower shows, arts displays, and some beautiful choral and popular music all featuring. But the main event will take place on Sunday - the Irish Conker Championships.

The championships are merging this year with the Freshford Autumn Fest so the whole experience is expected to be memorable with so much happening in the town for the long weekend.

Another great thing about the up and coming festival is that, for once, the weather is not an issue as there will be huge marquees erected on the green in the Square which will keep people dry if and when the rain comes, so participants in the events can enjoy themselves in the comfort of dry clothes.

The weekend opens on Friday, October 24, with an art exhibition through the rare Romanesque doorway of the village’s Church of Ireland church.

Whether you’re competing or there as a supporter the Irish Conker Championship is a great event for worthwhile charitable causes.

All proceeds from the event go towards Special Olympics Ireland, Prague House which is located in Freshford, and the Freshford Millennium Park Fund.

Nothing will put a dampener on the nutty folks at the Irish Conker Championship and Freshford Autumn Fest this year so go along and bring the family.
