Acclaimed play comes to the Watergate for three nights

The Watergate theatre is bracing itself for the coming of the multi-award winning comedy Stones In His Pockets, by Marie Jones.

The show has been a hit comedy in theatres across many international stages and it’s coming to the Kilkenny from next Thursday 15 until Saturday 17.

The play has a captivating story, and though it’s highly amusing, it is also moving and pulls at the heart strings, as it hits the core feelings of many people.

The play, set in county Kerry, is a tale of a quiet Irish community turned upside down by the arrival of a massive Hollywood film crew.

The Hollywood producers are trying to give their film an “Irish feel,” which brings them into conflict with the locals, most of whom are starring as extras.

It is clear after some time that the producers and the locals have different morals and ideals which lead them to clash.

The whole affair is seen through the eyes of two characters, Charlie and Jake. The play is performed by only two actors, Simon Delaney of Bachelors Walk, plays Charlie and Conor Delaney plays Jake.

However, the two actors also take on 14 other characters with the two men switching in and out of different characters seamlessly throughout the production grabbing the attention of the audience and adding lots of humour to the overall play.

“Stones In His Pockets,” is definitely a must see, so get your tickets early at the box office at 056 7761694.
