Susie Long Hospice Week closes with live musical events

On this the anniversary of the death of Susie Long - her friends and family are not allowing her memory to fade.

To mark her courageous fight for life following her fight with bowel cancer - the Susie Long Hospice Week 2009 has been organised by the Susie Long Hospice Fund and KCLR96fm.

The event has been running all week and comes to a close on Monday following a host of fun fundraising events.

Marking the second anniversary of Susie’s death (on Monday ), the aims of Susie Long Hospice Week are to increase public awareness and understanding of hospice care in Ireland and to raise vital funds for the Susie Long Hospice Fund, which aims to build a hospice for Kilkenny and Carlow.

A packed calendar of events was planned for Hospice Week, and the weekend is choc-a-bloc full of even more fundraisers for the worthy cause.

Willie Meighan and Canice Kenealy are hosting a disco on Saturday October 10, at the Set Theatre, Langtons on John St from 10pm. This promises to be an eclectic affair with music from all eras suiting everyone’s tastes.

On Sunday evening a Celebration of a Life will take place with music from The Barflies at the Pumphouse, Parliament Street. This is the eve of Susie’s second anniversary. The evening will kick off at 9pm.
