Dear Editor,
Just a few points as a follow up to Anne Ryan’s concerned letter of September 18.
•The skeletal remains discovered in unmarked ground at the development site on the former Kilkenny County Council property are in the custody of the National Museum of Ireland (NMI ).
• Margaret Gowan & Company continue their osteological analysis of the remains.
• A final report has yet to be prepared by Margaret Gowan & Company and sent to the NMI.
• The NM of I alone decides if and when to return the skeletal remains for re-interment. Re-interment within the Memorial Garden can only occur with the approval of the NMI.
• MacDonagh Junction has delivered on the building of a crypt at its beautiful appointed Famine Memorial Garden for such purpose if and when we are asked to reinter the remains by the NMI.
Yours sincerely,
Donie Butler
