A project to find out more about the heritage of the Northern stretch of the River Nore (from Ballynaslee on the Laois border to the Ossory Bridge in Kilkenny city ) is being undertaken on behalf of Kilkenny County Council, in partnership with the Kilkenny Heritage Forum and the Heritage Council, by archaeological consultants Kilkenny Archaeology.
Local anglers, farmers, historians, retired mill workers and/or anyone else who can offer information on the folklore, place names, field-names, river-names, archaeology and artefacts of the Northern River Nore are invited to attend information evenings which are taking place next month.
The first meeting will take place on Wednesday October 14, at Threecastles Hall, and the second will be on Thursday, October 15 at Canon Malone Hall, Ballyragget.
The meetings will take place between 7-9pm each evening and a short presentation on findings to date will be given at 7.45pm.
For more information, contact Emma Devine at emma@kilkennyarchaeology.ie or phone the office from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday on 056 7752200.
