James Stephens have qualified for the semi-final of the senior championship after an exciting game in Nowlan Park last Saturday.
On the day in question, both teams gave great performances. However, in the end, the more experienced James Stephens side stepped up and left St Martins trailing. The begining of the game was slow to start and it was clear that both teams were anxious on the field.
After 20 minutes of play the score was only four points to three in favour of the Village men. The teams were very unsettled. However the teams delivered an exciting last 10 minutes of the first half after a goal by David Walton really shook up the St Martins men and some great hurling was played. The score at half time was 1-8 to 1-4 in favour of the Village.
The second half saw a lot more action than the first. St Martins displayed great skill and scored five points in a row to make the scores level in the opening 10 minutes. However it was Eoin Larkin who stepped up with two points and a goal. Substitute, Joe Murray also scored a goal and Donnacha Cody also had a good game scoring three points. The score when the final whistle blew was James Stephens 3-18 to St Martins 1-17.
