Meeting planned to discuss pitch invasion complaint

A general meeting is to take place of all county board chairmen and GAA officials to discuss the problems associated with the invasion of supporters on to the pitch at Croke Park following big games.

A formal complaint was made by Kilkenny County Board in relation to pitch invasions at Coke Park last week and the board is awaiting a reply from the authorities at Croke Park.

Last week, the Kilkenny County Board said in a letter of complaint that it was unhappy with how the presentation of the trophy was handled on All-Ireland Sunday after the Kilkenny v Tipperary senior hurling match, and that they are in favour of the traditional method which allows the supporters onto the pitch in the aftermath of the game.

County Board secretary Ned Quinn said that this meeting is ‘the next step in the procedure’ to sorting out the issue.
