Youths rugby
The summer break is over. Barbecues have been packed away (if they were ever unpacked ), the summer Tag Rugby was yet again a major success, Leinster summer camps are done and dusted and the prospect of school and exams is upon us again.
But there is always a ‘silver lining’ – the rugby season 2009/2010 is about to start and the reigning Leinster Champions (McGowan Cup ) and South East Leinster Champions, Kilkenny under-15s, are ready to defend their titles.
Coaching staff
Newly elected Head Coach Stevie Van Rooyen and team manager Brian Scobie and the coaching team of Padraic Treacy and George Chandler (forwards coaches ), Dave Sutton (backs coach ) and Joe Walsh (fitness and defence coach ) bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. They have all won honours at provincial, national and international levels during their respective rugby careers. Van Rooyen says, “We are extremely excited about the coming season. Training has already begun and the players are full of enthusiasm. Although a number of last season’s players have advanced to under-17 level, we still have a good number that are still eligible”.
Training
New players are very welcome. If you feel you could be the next Ian Dowling or Brian O’Driscoll, come along to training or if you would just like to learn a new sport – all are welcome. To be eligible to play, you need to be born in 1995 or later. Training is every Wednesday at 7pm sharp.
