Ellen Duggan and Marie Langton are currently exhibiting at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel as part of Arts Week. Duggan and Langton have exhibited together at the Ormonde for the past number of years and their exhibition has become one of the highlights of the fringe events.
This year Duggan has concentrated on people, both portraits and everyday scenes. She draws her subject matter from her immediate surroundings including family, friends, and local scenes. Colour and texture are very important to her and she is known for the vibrancy and vitality of her work. Duggan is showcasing a selection of very real and lively paintings which are a must to see.
Langton has concentrated on seascapes and portraits which offer both serenity and movement. Her use of colour is minimalist in style but very striking and she has used many textures to get her desired effect. There is a serene feeling to her paintings this year which have both a modern and old fashioned style to them. This exhibition is well worth a visit.
