Although the national lottery did everything in their power to remind people to check their old lottery tickets, a mystery lotto winner will now never reap the rewards of their €1 million euro winning lotto ticket as time has run out for the winner to claim their winning prize.
The winning €1 million, Euromillions ticket was sold in Doran’s Supervalue in Graiguenamanagh over the May bank holiday weekend.
The national lottery allows the winner 90 days to come forward to claim their prize and if this doesn’t happen within that time the money goes back into the lottery fund or a separate draw takes place.
There has been much publicity surrounding the fact that the winning ticket has never been produced. However, it’s thought that because it was bought in Graiguenamanagh on a bank holiday weekend, the winner may have been a tourist passing through who never checked their ticket.
Now their chance to cash in on the winnings has passed and the €1million euro will simply be returned to the winnings fund and someone else will benefit. Alan Lalor, Field Sales Representative National Lottery, Kilkenny Rose Stephanie O’Dwyer and National Lottery selling agent Michael Doran from SuperValu, Graiguenamanagh, Co Kilkenny put champagne on ice to remind EuroMillions PLUS players they had one million reasons to check the last time they purchased a EuroMillions ticket in Kilkenny.
The winning numbers from the EuroMillions PLUS Extra draw on Friday 1 May were: 1, 19, 20, 25, 31.
