The Cats completed a clean sweep of Leinster hurling titles when the intermediate hurling team defeated Wexford in a tense but exciting final played in Nowlan Park on Sunday last.
While there were a number of fantastic performances on Pat Hoban’s side, player of the match must go to corner forward Eoin Guinan whose marksmanship from frees and 65s were the key to Kilkenny’s victory. He was aided in attack from John Joe Farrell, Brian Lannon and Martin Boran.
The defence also played well with Martin Phelan, Paul Murphy, John Cottrell and Conor Fogarty all putting in good performances throughout the game.
This victory sees Kilkenny qualify for the All-Ireland final provisionally fixed for Saturday, August 29 against the Munster winners or Galway.
