Kilkenny Fire Brigade was called to the scene of a fire at Government Buildings in Kilkenny this week.
A small fire broke out in the ordanance survey department of the Hebron Road premises on Monday morning last at 10.30am and the entire building was evacuated as a precuationary measure.
It is understood the fire was not too serious although fire fighters wore breathing apparatus to stave off smoke when dealing with the incident.
A piece of computer equipment which was thought to have overheated was the probable cause of the fire. This was removed from the building by the fire men.
The building houses a number of government departments including the tax office, the social welfare office and much more.
It is thought that the prompt action of the fire services prevented a more serious incident from occurring.
