The students of Clinstown National School in Jenkinstown, County Kilkenny, are the proud winners of a Green Flag for their school once again this year.
Fifty one Kilkenny schools were honoured with the award this year.
The students were treated to a presentation from both the Mayor Malcolm Noonan and the chairman of Kilkenny County Council Michael O’ Brien at the school last week. Special guest local man Nickey Brennan was also in attendance at the event.
Mayor Noonan spoke to the children from a podium that they had set up in the school yard, about his desire to see the birds and the butterflies that seemed to have disappeared, return to the country once more.
Several local councillors attended the event from the area along with the parents, pupils, and teachers of the school.
The Green flag was raised by Nickey and his nephew Sean Brennan
