Solo cycle to raise funds for Quirke fund

Michael Frister, a long-term member of the Camphill Community in Callan, a community working with people with special needs, will begin a 1,600km cycle from Budapest to Hamburg on Monday June 8.

The entire solo trip is expected to take three weeks. While undertaking this mammoth challenge Michael has offered to raise sponsorship for the Richard Quirke Support Fund.

The fund for Richard Quirke, a 24-year-old acquired brain injury victim, got off to a wonderful start on its launch night at St John’s Church, Kilkenny.

The large audience was entertained to a wide variety of music styles at this musical feast. A very enjoyable night was had by all and the good will and generosity shown towards this cause was greatly appreciated.

An afternoon of music, delicious treats and beverages will be held at Mellow Café, Callan, on Sunday June 21 from 2-6pm.

Richard continues to make progress, in the care of the staff at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, as he grows stronger he awaits a call for major rehabilitation.

All funds raised will be used for his future care after rehab.
