Bands to entertain the masses in aid of charity

This weekend will see a jam-packed night of music take place in The Pumphouse in aid of the Uganda School Project.

The River Valley Band, Clive Barnes, Moses Moorhous and IXO all take to the stage upstairs in the Pumphouse to play what promises to be a barnstormer of a gig.

The River Valley Band are fresh from the Rhythm and Roots weekend and their recent Andrew’s Lane Theatre headliner with Floyd Soul and The Wolf in Dublin. The local boys are in limber playing shape and ready to unleash a selection of songs from their upcoming album ‘Drunk In The Wine Cellar’.

Adopted Kilkenny man Clive Barnes is known as one of the best singer/songwriters to ever come from the south-east. He has racked up first rate reviews and awards left right and centre and has done fine work touring with the legendary likes of Joe Cocker, Dr John and Terry Callier.

Moses Moorhous (aka Jack O’Leary ) has built up a sterling live reputation in Kilkenny over the past three years. He will be getting himself into playing shape for what promises to be another winning summer of dates.

IXO are a duo consisting of David Thompson and Jane Murphy. Playing together as an outfit for over two years, they’ve toured the country and worked support slots for Nina Hynes, RSAG and Majella Murphy. They’ve also amassed a fine series of jangly folk and instrumental gems.

The entertainment is organised by local man Eddie Brennan, and all proceeds from this gig will go directly to the Uganda School Project. A large group of Irish students travel to Uganda this summer to build much needed schools and facilities.

Doors open at 8.30pm tonight Friday May 29, and admission is €8.
