Starlight stage The Likes of Us at the Watergate

Starlight Stage Productions are counting down to the opening night of The Likes Of Us at the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny. On Wednesday June 3 Kilkenny audiences will be introduced to a new version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.

Based on the true story of Dr Thomas Barnardo, the show follows his struggle to establish his first children’s home in London's East End in mid Victorian times. As the show is based on the start of the Barnardos charity, Andrew Lloyd Webber requests that a donation from the box office receipts goes to the charity.

The show is shaping up really well at this stage and the production team, cast, and crew are all confident of a hugely successful run for the four nights.

Already certain elements are standing out as potential show stopping moments such as the wonderfully talented young orphans, students from Starlight Stage School, singing ‘The Likes Of Us’ on dark, wet rooftops as they huddle together for warmth, shelter, and comfort. Young performers such as Amy Mullholland, Connor Brassil, Molly Keana, Emily Mullaly Trotman, Sean Lennon and Eilis Fitzgerald will astound the audiences with their voices despite their young ages.

The show has been billed as a “wonderful London based musical in the style of Oliver and Mary Poppins”.

Tickets cost €12 or €10 with concession and are available from the Watergate Theatre Box Office on (056 ) 77 61674.
