Cabaret nights at the Barn

Local members of The Barn Owl Players are back with a bang! Following their sell-out production of The Whiteheaded Boy in the Watergate Theatre last December, the members of the former adult drama club are presenting a series of diverse and highly entertaining theatre monologues this Saturday, May 16 and next Saturday, May 23 at The Barn studio theatre in Church Lane.

The Barn will be transformed into the intimate setting of a cabaret club where patrons will enjoy wine and nibbles at café style tables while being entertained by an exciting line-up of local actors and musicians. Cabaret started in 1881 with the opening of Le Chat Noir, an informal salon where poets, artists, and composers could share ideas and compositions and The Barn Owl Players are keen to bring this more relaxed form of entertainment to Kilkenny.

The 16 actors have taken on a series of diverse theatre monologues and plays from around the world will make an appearance on the night including Friel, Shaffer, McDonagh, Woods, Russell, and Shakespeare.

“The actors have been working together and exploring theatre skills for nearly two years now. This is an exciting development for them and all at Barnstorm,” says Barnstorm’s Philip Hardy who works closely with the new actors and directors.

Tickets cost €10. For booking and further information contact Barnstorm on (056 ) 7751266 or e-mail info@barnstorm.ie.
