A review of the introduction of parking charges in the city centre and suburbs will be undertaken by the executive of Kilkenny Borough Council in coming months according director of service Brian Tyrrell.
He was speaking at a meeting of Kilkenny Borough Council this week when he said, that although the new scheme had been implemented successfully there were of course teething problems which would be addressed over the course of the next few months.
“We will do a review of the parking charges but at this point we haven’t met all of the difficulties that have arisen for people as a result of the introduction as of yet. We have been talking to carers, elderly people and of course there have been problems that we could not have predicted. However, when we have the information to make a coherent policy we will revert back to the members – hopefully by the September meeting.”
He added that the council was working to resolve several issues and he encouraged people to talk to the council’s traffic department if they are experiencing difficulties with the new charges.
