Sister charged with Brennan murder

Castlecomer District Court has charged 18 year old Caroline Brennan with the murder of her brother at a house party last December.

Twenty-two-year-old Michael Brennan was stabbed at a house party in his uncle's house at Barrack Street, Castlecomer at 3.30am on December 30 last.

The 22-year-old received a stab wound to his upper body.

His younger sister Caroline Brennan with an address at 14 Love Lane, Castlecomer appeared before Monday’s sitting of Castlecomer District Court, where she was read the murder charge following direction from the DPP.

Superintendent Walter O'Sullivan told the court that the DPP had directed a murder charge in this case.

Local Sergeant Teresa Philips said she had arrested and charged Ms Brennan shortly before 10.30am on December 30 last.

She said, "I cautioned the defendant and she replied that she had nothing to say when the charge was put to her."

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear at Clover Hill District Court on April 27.
