Recruits required for Order of Malta

The Order of Malta Cadet Corps is currently recruiting new members between the ages of 10 and 16 years.

Tonight April 17, the Kilkenny Order of Malta Cadet Corps is holding an enrolment ceremony at Kilkenny Castle, in the Great Hall.

This ceremony is a proud tradition of the Order of Malta. The ceremony is in keeping with the military history of the Order of Malta, a history dating back to the Knights of St John in 1066. The historic setting of Kilkenny Castle is very fitting due to the long history of the order and the city’s current celebration. This event is a truly historic event for the Order of Malta in Kilkenny as it is the first time such an event has organised in the city. The Kilkenny unit has the privilege of the attendance of the Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta at the event.

The event shall be attended by the national director of the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps Commdr Winnie Maye DM, the first female director of the corps. Invitations have been extended to all of the head of the emergency services in Kilkenny, Lord Mayor, Bishop Burrows and Bishop Freeman, and local elected officials.

The Order of Malta Cadet Corps in Kilkenny has been privileged by the Office of Public works, with the use of the Great Hall of Kilkenny Castle.

The Order of Malta Cadet Corps meets every Friday in Kilkenny, in St John’s Community centre, between 18.45 and 20.00.
