A repeat offender was sentenced to five months in prison at Kilkenny District Court this week.
Andrew Webster (21 ) with an address at 6 Kilbride, Callan pleaded guilty to a number of offences including unlawful possession of drugs, driving without insurance and driving without a valid driving licence at Bridge Street, Callan on May 15 2008.
The defendant who is currently serving a prison sentence for separate offences, also admitted two other charges, criminal damage and entering a building with intention to commit an offence at 3 Kilbride, Callan on August 18.
Inspector Aidan Brennan told the court on Monday that gardaí received a call to an address in Callan. “When gardaí arrived at Mr Webster’s grandmother’s premises they discovered Mr Webster and another man who had broken the padlock on a garage door knowing that there was a lawnmower stored there which they planned to sell to an unsuspecting buyer,” explained the Inspector.
Judge William Harnett fined him €300, disqualified him from driving for six years and sentenced him to five months in prison for driving without insurance to be served when his current sentence is completed. He also fined him €200 for possession of drugs and €350 for driving without a valid driving licence.
