Cleeres will present an 80s night (tonight ) Friday, April 3 for fans of that decade.
The event is being organised by local man Eddie Brennan in aid of the Uganda School Project.
Eddie is one of many UL student volunteers who will be travelling to Uganda this coming June to build a school.
The Uganda School Project is designed to raise awareness of development issues, skills in fund-raising, project management and humanitarian aid work in addition to the provision of the educational facility. In addition, the project involves the planting of 2,500 trees to raise awareness about climate change and carbon emissions.
The fundraiser in Cleeres is being promoted as ‘an awesomely radical, fresh, wicked and gnarly night of 1980s nostalgia to the max.
Fancy dress is going to be a big part of the event with prizes going for the best 80s costumes on the night. Whether it’s dressing like Madonna, Miami Vice or Marty McFly or even just pulling out the old stone washed jeans and leg warmers, 80s dress is a must.
The roof of Cleeres will be raised by the best of 80s music and there will be plenty of Rubiks cubes in supply. There’s no cover charge on the door but all donations are appreciated. All money raised will go directly to the Uganda School Project.
