The sudden and untimely death of Noel Kelly, Crettyard, brought the postponement of round 2 of the four county league on Sunday last. Noel’s brothers are active members of the St Abban’s athletic club and his older brother Pat is currently PRO for Leinster Athletics. The sympathies of all in the athletic community, locally and nationally are with the extended Kelly family at this time. Friday, April 17 is the probable date for the re-fixing of round 2.
Fit For Life timing
There were 50 participants in the most recent “timing” of members of Kilkenny Fit for Life Club. The timing was over a measured 3K on Scanlon Park athletic track. Times ranged from 10 minutes 56 seconds for the fastest man and 11 minutes 47 seconds for the fastest woman to 27 plus minutes for the slowest three finishers. So it is safe to say there is quite a variety of fitness levels. The big question is, how many of these will show improved times at the next timing, scheduled for Tuesday, April 14?
