Carlow artist shows his ability to grasp nature

Carlow based artist Patrick ‘Pappi’ Pearse will hold an exhibition of his work in The Arthro Gallery in Castlecomer from August 9 to August 23 as part of the Kilkenny Fringe Festival.

Entitled ‘all around the light that is…’ Pappi’s fine-art oil painting exhibition has a strong argumentative structure, from haunting, off the beaten track scenes to well-known heritage places.

One of the most striking aspects of this developing art is Pappi’s ability to grasp nature. His skies bear the burden of nature’s abuse and misuse; they also though somehow hold a desire for change. As weather is an intrinsic element of the composition the sky is almost always included.

The light shown in the artist’s paintings is lit from within by a ravenous inspiration driven by anger fixed with an unchangeable mind, rummaging within his imagination.

It is fitting to assume that the admiration of natural beauty and the painting of landscapes are a normal and enduring part of our spiritual activity and Pappi captures this perfectly in his exhibition.
