Callan Business Development is inviting all interested parties to volunteer their time and resources to assist with the formation of a new Callan tidy towns committee.
The development is hoping that youth clubs, sports clubs, scouts, schools, GAA, mothers and toddlers, businesses, residents’ associations, ICA and age groups will be interested in taking part in the initiative.
Under the leadership of Mike Nolan, chairman of Callan Business Development, Callan Tidy Towns intends to launch a 3-year plan 2009 -2012 next month ahead of its entry into the 2009 National Tidy Towns Competition.
The group plans to launch the action plan and the vision for the future on Tuesday April 14.
As the plan is in its infancy they are inviting proposals and submissions from interested parties and community groups about what can and should be achieved in Callan by Callan Tidy Towns over the next three years. At present there are only about six people involved in Callan Tidy Towns. If Callan Tidy Towns is to succeed with this plan it will take contributions from everyone in Callan.
People are required to organise clean ups, fund-raise, report litter problems, plant shrubs and hanging baskets etc.
If you are interested in getting involved in Callan Tidy Town today call Mike Nolan 087 9484376 or post submissions to: Callan Tidy Towns, Knockreagh, Callan, Co Kilkenny. Closing date for receipt of submissions is April 10.
All submissions should detail short sharp feasible projects that will add value to Callan in the years ahead and improve the position of the town on the national tidy towns points table.
