It’s spring 2009 and the new trends have started to hit our stores. This season you will see plenty of the flapper style trend as was seen in 2008. Expect, sleek, feminine and burlesque to fringed dresses which will stay throughout the summer.
One-shouldered tops, and dresses are also a key factor this spring.
Showing off one-shoulder in a dress is sexy yet sophisticated. My favourite look has made a big comeback with the Grecian theme hitting the stores. History is always repeating itself in fashion and it’s no surprise Grecian inspired looks are key for 2009. What woman doesn’t look great pulling off the Grecian Goddess look. The styles will range in maxi and short style dresses, teamed with gladiator style sandals or boots. For accessories it’s all about the butterfly. Not glitzy in your face style accessories but more elegant styles of the butterfly.
The 2009 shoe trends are all about making a statement. From fetish-inspired shoes, fringing, reptile skin, gladiator styles and lace styles. As always with these trends shop around as they don’t tend to stay in fashion too long so you don’t want to spend a fortune.
Another favourite of mine is the return of the ripped jeans. Ripped denim is certainly sexy and revealing - and the introduction of ripped denim shorts should have your pins looking great this summer. Boyfriend jeans are also on the list for this season. Just be careful as they can add unwanted pounds and are unflattering on some body shapes.
Hair trends are varied this spring- expect the pixie crop which is inspired by Victoria Beckham — this is a hard look to carry off — as you’ve no hair to hide behind! The bob is the next hair cut — this season it will be cut sharp and sleek. Long hair will be worn flowing rather than poker straight and hair extensions will make a big comeback. As for hair colour it will be one extreme to the other- peroxide blonde like Kate Moss’s look will be a favourite as will Gothic black Dita Von Teese look. Just remember, whatever the incoming trends make sure they suit you and work with your face, shape and colouring.
