National Council for the Blind exhibition to be held in Tuam library

An exhibition of locally donated artwork to help the National Council for the Blind in Ireland will be held in Tuam Library from tomorrow (Tuesday ) until Saturday December 20.

The mission of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland is to optimise the intellectual, social, and economic independence of visually impaired people and to minimise the handicapping effects of visual impairment.

Currently there are 6,500 people on the register of blind people.

A further 30,000 people in Ireland suffer from a significant sight loss, many of whom will eventually be included on the register. Three people go blind in Ireland every day.

The aim of the exhibition is to raise funds for the National Council for the Blind.

This exhibition will be opened at 2pm tomorrow.

All are welcome to go along. The exhibition can be viewed during library opening hours.

If you wish to donate a painting you may do so by contacting Padraig on 087-9251164.
