Mighty Tales in Árus na nGael

A new show Mighty Tales begins at Árus na nGael, Dominick Street, on Monday December 15 at 8pm with a run of three days.

Mixing musical theatre with storytelling and Victorian gadgetry, the show includes a one-woman folk-opera on the life of Biddy Early, Witch of Clare, and a retelling of the famous narrative poem, ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge .

Galway woman Helen Lane is well known locally as a singer and artist. She was a founder member of the all-female a cappella group, The Cappuccinos, and has produced a CD of her own songs, Incredible Blue.

Steve Johnston, also involved, is best known as actor and musical director with Footsbarn Theatre, when they used to perform in their tent on Fisheries Field, back in the 80s. He currently runs his own touring theatre, Teatro ao Largo, in Portugal

There are special matinees beginning at 2.30 on Tuesday December 16 and Wednesday December 17.

Tickets are on the door: Adults €10, unwaged €8, and family concessions are also available.
